A keen runner has set herself a mammoth fitness challenge in support of her local hospice.

Jane Townsley will host her very own half marathon on Sunday morning, beginning at her home in Castleford before passing through Altofts, Normanton and Pontefract - and ending outside the hospice itself.

She said: “After the Great North Run in 2016 I vowed never to do it again, but I wanted to raise as much as possible.

“It’s a bit different when you’ve got 58,000 other runners and the atmosphere.”

Jane is a keen runner, but usually takes part in 10k events, which are less than half the length of a half marathon.

She is asking anyone she passes on her route to cheer her on as a morale boost.

All money raised will go to the Prince of Wales Hospice. See justgiving.com/fundraising/jane-solo-run
