SCAMSTERS who sent e-mails and letters to a Crofton woman are being tackled by MP Jon Trickett.
Working with Consumer Direct, Mr Trickett decided to act after being contacted by one of his constituents.

He has developed a new online form for reporting letters and e-mails, in the hope of putting an end to the scams which cost the public around £3m a year, according to Office of Fair Trading    figures.

Mr Trickett said: "Many people in our area have fallen prey to unscrupulous individuals who seek to part people from their hard-earned money.

"Some of these e-mails and letters are very convincing and people need to be extremely vigilant to make sure they are not taken advantage of.

"There is no excuse for what these people do – it is basically stealing."
