FAMILY archives of the owners of Nostell Priory have been given to Wakefield Council.
The archives of the Winn Family, who have owned the property since 1650, have been allocated to the care of the council to be looked after by West Yorkshire Archive Service.

The family archives provide information about the National Trust property, and about the involvement of the Winn family and local people in the management of Nostell Priory and its estate.

Graham Hebblethwaite, chief officer of West Yorkshire Joint Services, which oversees the work of the archive service, said: "I am especially pleased the Acceptance in Lieu Panel agreed to our recommendation that the Nostell archives should be located permanently in West Yorkshire, where the documents will be most accessible to local people."
