THE HEAT was on for Normanton MP Ed Balls.
But he was not facing a grilling over his political skills - it was his ability to cook up a storm in the kitchen that was under scrutiny.

Mr Balls put his slicing and dicing to the test as he cooked chilli con carne with pupils from Outwood Grange College.

It was one of the meals from a cook book compiled from favourite recipes from children across the country.
