CHILDREN were moving, grooving and digging in Eastmoor thanks to a fun-packed range of activities at St Swithun's Centre.
Building bird feeders, planting flowers and creating colourful cards were all part of Getting Eastmoor Moving’s (GEM) three-day programme of events for local youngsters, which took place this week.
Elizabeth Davenport, community development worker, said events included an RSPB talk about the birds on the estate, the kids working on the GEM garden, at the Arncliffe Road centre, and an arts and crafts day with a Valentine’s theme.
She added: “It took a lot of hard work and planning from all the staff and volunteers involved, but everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the children.”
GEM aims to provide social and cultural activities for families in Eastmoor, and to develop activity schemes for children during the school holidays and after school.
