I wish to write to you with regard to the amount of ill feeling that the closure of Upper Altofts Post Office is still radiating through the community.
I wish to write to you with regard to the amount of ill feeling that the closure of Upper Altofts Post Office is still radiating through the community.
So many elderly people are extremely angry over the closure, and feel that the Post Office and th
e New Labour government have absolutely no idea just how elderly people have to live, travel or communicate outside of their own selfish MP's world.
This anger may sound exaggerated, but I can assure you that the feeling and expression of anger is far from an exaggeration.
People who have never voted anything but Labour all their lives are not just saying they will not vote Labour again, but they are shouting that they intend to vote for other parties.
There has been nothing done to improve the bus service between Normanton Post Office, and Lower Altofts Post Office, buses either turn up late or not at all; elderly people are left in all weather conditions waiting for buses to turn up.
Also not only the service but the access to the buses themselves is deplorable. Many of the elderly cannot access the high steps to even get on the buses.
I trust you will receive this letter in the spirit of a public warning, regarding decisions made by the government which will dramatically effect, to their disadvantage, the very people who have put them into their positions and now feel betrayed.
We, the residents of Altofts, look forward to receiving information of how you hope to improve the bus service in our area, if no reversal of the closure decision is made.
Mrs A Krappes,
Lee Brigg, Altofts
